Services

Practical work, priced up front.

Every engagement starts with a free call and a flat quote. Pick one thing that's been broken for months, or work through the list together — but you'll never get a proposal for work you didn't ask about.

SERVICE 01

Operations & systems

Getting the day-to-day out of your head and onto paper, so the business runs the same way whether or not you're standing in it.

  • Opening, closing, and shift-change checklists
  • Standard operating procedures for the tasks you re-explain constantly
  • Scheduling structure and shift-coverage rules
  • Inventory and ordering routines that survive a busy week
  • Vendor lists, contacts, and reorder points in one place
  • A walk-through of where time is actually being lost

Best first project if the sentence "nobody else knows how to do that" comes up more than once a day.

SERVICE 02

People & hiring

The paperwork and the scripts that turn "I guess I'm a manager now" into something you can actually run without dreading it.

  • Job descriptions and postings that attract the right applicants
  • Interview questions and a simple scoring sheet
  • New-hire onboarding packet and first-week plan
  • Staff handbook — written for your crew, not for a courtroom
  • Policies for the recurring flashpoints: phones, staff meals, no-shows, tips
  • Scripts for the hard conversations, including the last one

Employment law varies by state and situation. For anything binding, we'll tell you when it's time to run the final document past an attorney.

SERVICE 03

Admin & back office

The pile on the desk, the folder nobody can find, and the renewal you missed last year. Sorted once, with a system you can maintain in ten minutes a week.

  • A filing structure — digital and physical — that matches how you work
  • A calendar of licenses, permits, insurance, and renewal deadlines
  • Receipt and expense handling that your bookkeeper won't hate
  • Templates for invoices, quotes, and client communication
  • Cleanup of the shared drive that has four versions of everything
  • A short written guide so the system outlives the cleanup

This isn't bookkeeping or tax preparation. It's the organizing that makes hiring a bookkeeper cheaper and less painful.

SERVICE 04

Busy season prep & rescue

For businesses whose whole year is decided in a few brutal months. Prepare before it starts, or get help in the middle of it.

  • Pre-season readiness review across staffing, stock, and systems
  • Peak-week staffing plan and coverage contingencies
  • Rush-hour service scripts and reset routines for the crew
  • Mid-season triage when something is actively falling apart
  • A post-season debrief while the details are still fresh
  • Same-week turnaround on urgent seasonal problems

Mid-season work is quoted at short notice and scheduled fast — that's the point of it.

Engagements & pricing

Three ways to work together.

Everything is quoted as a flat price after the intro call. You approve the number before anything starts.

The single fix

One problem, one deliverable, one price. A handbook, a checklist system, a hiring packet. Usually turned around in a week or two.

Best for: the thing that's been on your list since last season.

The tune-up

A few weeks working through operations, people, and admin together — a full pass over how the business runs, ending with a written playbook.

Best for: owners who've outgrown doing it all by memory.

On call

A block of hours to use as things come up — a second opinion, a document reviewed, a difficult week talked through. Bought in advance, no expiry pressure.

Best for: businesses already in decent shape.

Questions

The things people ask on the first call.

What does a project cost?

It depends on the scope, which is why the intro call is free and the quote comes before any work. Small fixed-price pieces like Busy Season Rescue are listed outright; larger engagements get a written number you approve up front. There's no hourly meter and no monthly retainer.

Do you only work with restaurants and cafes?

No. Hospitality is where a lot of this work started, but the problems are the same across small businesses — shops, trades, outfitters, studios, service businesses. If you employ a handful of people and wear too many hats, the work translates.

Do you have to be on site?

For operations work, being in the building for a day or two is usually worth it — you see things a questionnaire never surfaces. Documents, handbooks, and admin projects run fine over email and a shared folder from anywhere.

Is this legal or accounting advice?

It isn't. We write practical documents and build working systems. When something needs an attorney, a CPA, or a licensed bookkeeper, we say so plainly and hand off — often with the groundwork already organized so their bill is smaller.

How fast can you start?

Usually within a week or two, and faster for urgent mid-season problems. Send an email with a sentence or two about what's going on and you'll get a real answer, not an automated reply.

Pick one thing. Let's fix it.

Tell us which of these is the loudest problem right now and we'll come back with a plan and a price.
